InnovateUS: Towards Deep Listening: Rethinking Public Engagement Through Generative AI

Join us for this 60-minute virtual workshop with Eric Gordon, professor of Civic Media at Emerson College and director of the Engagement Lab. This training will provide a practical framework for government practitioners to rethink why and how public engagement happens at a time when most public-serving institutions are facing significant trust deficits. The availability of generative AI tools creates new opportunities for “deep listening” practices, in which public sector workers can make sense of large data sets, provide feedback in multiple languages, and for government agencies to process input with transparency and accountability. The workshop will cover these practices and will offer use cases to imagine what’s possible, as well as address potential harms that may arise with these technologies.
