David Madigan

Distinguished Senior Fellow and Professor

About

David Madigan is a Distinguished Senior Fellow and Professor of Statistics at Northeastern University and Special Advisor to the President. From 2020 to 2025 he was Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Northeastern. Previously he held positions at Columbia University, Rutgers University and the University of Washington, as well as at AT&T, Soliloquy Inc., Talaria Inc., and KPMG. Dr. Madigan’s research interests and publications include topics such as Bayesian statistics, text mining, Monte Carlo methods, pharmacovigilance and probabilistic graphical models. He received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and Ph.D. in statistics, both from Trinity College Dublin. Professor Madigan is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and has served as Editor-in-Chief of Statistical Science.
