Jay Kemp
Artificial Intelligence and Social Impact Fellow
About
Jay Kemp (he/they) is the Artificial Intelligence and Social Impact Fellow at The Burnes Center. Currently, they are a graduate student in Northeastern’s Media Advocacy M.S. program, which is co-hosted between CAMD Journalism and the School of Law. In this program, he focuses on innovative media and journalistic strategies in social justice contexts and has participated in research on Black Media studies. Jay is a summa cum laude graduate of Northeastern University’s College of Social Sciences and Humanities with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Outside of their role at The Burnes Center and his academics, they are passionate about personal health education and activism, evident in his roles as Sexual Violence Prevention Educator for the Office of Prevention and Education at Northeastern (OPEN) and Education Coordinator for SHARE, the on-campus Planned Parenthood Generation Action organization.
His previous roles include stints as an intern for Senator Edward Markey and Representative Ayanna Pressley, a co-op as the Scheduling and Executive Assistant for then-Attorney General Maura Healey, and a Marketing Staff member for the Center for Communication, Media Innovation, and Social Change at Northeastern (NU CCMISC). They also have published bylines in The Huntington News and multiple magazines, including Tastemakers, CLEAN, and WOOF.
