Laila Diaz
AI For Impact Co-Op
About
Laila is a second-year Computer Science student at Middlesex College, with an expected graduation in 2026. She is passionate about artificial intelligence, ethical data use, and privacy, and explores how technology can be leveraged responsibly to support social good. Laila is also a member of Rewriting the Code, where she engages with a community of women pursuing careers in tech.
Through coursework and hands-on AI projects, Laila has built a strong foundation in core AI concepts, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, along with practical understanding of ethical AI and real-world applications. She is particularly focused on the intersection of technology, data privacy, and social impact.
Outside of academics and tech, Laila is involved in the Environmental Science Club and the Black Student Union, where she previously served as treasurer. She enjoys soccer and volunteers at major soccer events, including past FIFA Club World Cup tournaments, with plans to continue supporting future events. She looks forward to further exploring how innovative technology can be used to address complex societal challenges.
