MATCH

Massachusetts Academics to Careers Helper

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Generative AI tool to help prospective students explore programs, courses, and career trajectories across the Commonwealth’s public higher education institutions.  MATCH is especially valuable for the 25,113 Massachusetts high school seniors who choose public higher education annually, including the 10% who are ESL learners. By simplifying processes, MATCH could help more students access federal financial aid, potentially securing over $12 million annually through Pell Grants.

Impact: This project was not well scoped by the agency. We anticipate that, as a result of the prototyping exercise, the agency might learn what it wants to build and include these features in the version of the tool that gets embedded within the public portal they are building out with AWS.

Partner: Massachusetts Executive Office of Education and the Massachusetts AI Collaboration for Higher Education

Project Status: This project was handed off to the agency and the Executive Office of Education and is looking to expand the number of schools the proof of concept product supports. The initial product was built with 3 institutions. The MA Department of Higher Education is using insights gained to inform the development of a public portal which will include the MATCH tool for students when they roll it out next year. The Executive Office of Education and Department of Higher Education are working with AWS on design sessions to move the portal project forward.
